Moving towards closing the geographical inequality gaps within the field of gynecologic oncology by stimulating the harmonization of care.
Despite the advancements in gynecologic oncology, significant disparities persist in access to care, quality of treatment, training, and professional development across different regions. These disparities affect patient outcomes and the ability of healthcare professionals to provide state-of-the-art care.
The Geographical Inequalities Working Group is dedicated to identifying, addressing, and ultimately reducing these inequalities. Our goal is to ensure that no matter where a healthcare professional or patient is located, they have equitable access to knowledge, education, training, and optimal gynecologic cancer care.
We aim to:
Support harmonization of care standards across countries and regions.
Advocate for equitable access to ESGO training programs, fellowships, and congresses.
Provide guidance and tools to help underserved regions develop stronger infrastructure in gynecologic oncology.
Promote collaboration between established and emerging gynecologic oncology centers.
Launch initiatives and research that highlight and address barriers faced by professionals in under-resourced areas.
The working group is currently developing the Team Bridge project—an ambitious and inclusive initiative focused on fostering partnerships and mentorship between gynecologic oncology teams across Europe and beyond. The goal is to build long-term collaboration between high-resource and lower-resource centers through shared learning, exchange, and support.
