Committed to the cause of excellence in care and education, since 2010, ESGO has aimed to establish multidisciplinary standards for training and care, developed a set of quality indicators for the management of gynaecological cancers, and acts as the European authority in the field of gynaecological oncology.
As requirements for gynaecological oncology management have increased, surgery has become more complex, and oncological care has become more multidisciplinary, evidence is also required for modules and assessments during training. The ESGO hospital accreditations in advanced ovarian and endometrial surgery assess the adherence to the guidelines, evaluate the quality of surgery, and play an essential political role in the centralisation of care.
ESGO has set multidisciplinary standards of care in gynaecological oncology and formal European standards of training in the subspecialty that have been adopted in numerous European countries as a model for national subspecialty programmes of training and care, and are used as a reference in countries where the subspecialty training does not formally exist (yet).

If there is not yet an accredited ESGO centre in your country for either training or surgery, and you are seeking support in order to get your centre accredited, check out the ESGO Centre Candidacy Programme!
This year, ESGO has taken significant steps to digitalise its centre accreditation process for ovarian and endometrial cancer surgery, in a move aimed at improving efficiency and accessibility, making it easier and faster for centres to submit their applications, and for the accreditation committee to review them.
The new digital system will enable ESGO to manage the accreditation process entirely online, from application submission to evaluation and feedback. The system will also provide a more user-friendly experience for applicants, with real-time updates and the ability to track progress throughout the accreditation process. ESGO has partnered with REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) for the digital transformation of the accreditation process.
