Overview

ESGO’s subspecialty certification programme provides formal recognition for gynaecological oncologists through a 2–3-year full-time fellowship at an ESGO-accredited Training Centre across Europe.

 

The programme combines hands-on clinical training with a comprehensive educational framework. Fellows must also successfully pass the ESGO Exam to gain the certification.

 

Upon completion, fellows are certified with the ESGO-EBCOG Diploma of European Gynaecological Oncologist (FESGO-EBCOG), a recognised benchmark of excellence in the field.

 

Subspecialty certification is available exclusively to ESGO members. If you are not yet an ESGO member, join ESGO today.

Application

  1. Apply to a training centre
    Contact an ESGO-accredited Training Centre to apply for a local fellowship position.
  2. Register online
    Once accepted, register your account in REDCap via the online application form.
  3. Submit required documents
  • Profile photo
  • CV
  • Certificate of medical degree
  • Ob/gyn specialist certificate
  • Colposcopy course certificate (optional)
  • A training programme plan in line with the ESGO Curriculum

ESGO Curriculum

The ESGO Curriculum defines the competencies, clinical skills and training standards required to become a European gynaecological oncologist.

 

In 2025, the ESGO Curriculum was formally adopted by the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) in recognition of its alignment with the European Training Requirements.

eLogbook

The eLogbook is a mandatory online tool used to track your training progress throughout the fellowship.

 

The eLogbook is fully available online via REDCap. Note you can submit your data, documents and assessments via any computer.
