Environment and Sustainability

Mission:

Improve the care for the environment and promote the sustainable use of resources within ESGO and the field of gynecologic oncology.

Overview:

This working group is focused on embedding sustainability into the heart of ESGO’s operations, events, and broader professional practices. The aim is to encourage environmentally responsible choices across all activities in gynecologic oncology and foster a culture of sustainability within the ESGO community.

Current Activities:

  • Literature Review:
Conducting a thorough review to identify what is already known in the field of gynecologic oncology regarding sustainability. The goal is to map current practices, highlight both major and minor contributors to environmental impact, and detect areas that still require attention.

  • Survey on Sustainable Practices in Gynecologic Oncology:
This upcoming survey (scheduled for 2025) will explore ESGO members’ preferences and practices regarding sustainability—particularly around ESGO Congresses—and gather insights for future improvements.
