This course includes 1 day of hands-on training and a 3.5-hour online session, focused on surgical techniques.

 

Theoretical sessions will cover the surgical anatomy of different techniques, with complementary exercises of surgical skills in pelvitrainers as well as specific surgical techniques in animal models.

 

Learning and training in surgery is in high demand for many gynaecological oncology surgeons. Bowel, vascular and urological surgery are often the procedures our doctors feel most uncomfortable with because of limited knowledge and practice.

 

Gynaecological relapses and advanced ovarian cancer surgery need to be performed by skilled surgeons that are confident with pelvic exenteration, bowel anastomosis and urinary diversion.

 

This course will help to raise standards, improve the quality of surgical treatment and promote gynaecological oncology best practices.

Learning objectives

  • Learn how to reproduce bowel anastomosis (both manual and mechanical), urological procedures (ureter reimplantation, urinary diversion) and manage vascular injuries in oncological patients.
  • Gain updated and detailed knowledge about advanced surgery and improve surgical skills.
  • Understand the surgical steps and decision-making process when a surgery is carried out and become familiar with the basis of colorectal, urological and vascular procedures, with specific instrumentation, mechanical anastomosis and vascular sutures.

Target audience

The course is aimed at gynaecological oncologists with a special interest in surgery. The course will be valuable to both new specialists in the field as well as senior trainees. Members of the European Network of Young Gynaecologic Oncologists (ENYGO) will benefit from direct interaction with the faculty.

Participants will receive an official ESGO certificate of attendance. To claim your certificate, you must complete an online evaluation form shortly after the course.
