Overview

Online: 17 December 2026 (online theory session) + 14 January 2027 (online video session)
Onsite: 21-22 January 2027, Madrid, Spain (cadaveric hands-on workshop)

 

This is a hybrid course on the surgical techniques needed to treat gynaecological cancer, which includes 3 training sessions during the period of one month. The course will focus on providing an in-depth understanding of surgical anatomy, as well as an essential knowledge on the surgical management of patients with gynaecological cancer, both early and advanced stages.

 

It will also cover theoretical aspects including patterns of dissemination of gynaecological malignancies, general aspects on the endoscopic treatment and reduction of radicality, fertility preservation aspects and quality control of the surgical treatment.

 

In addition, one face-to-face session will be carried out in Madrid, where participants will have the opportunity to perform both open and laparoscopic surgery in human specimens, which offer the highest level of reality to the gynaecologic surgery. It will include retroperitoneal laparoscopic lymph node dissection, useful for the staging of early-stage cases, open radical hysterectomy, anatomical dissection and even pelvic exenteration.

Learning objectives

• Acquire updated and detailed knowledge of the surgical management of gynaecological cancers.
• Understand the surgical steps and decision-making process when a surgery is carried out on a patient.
• Apply the different surgical techniques and understand their benefits in different approaches to pelvic tumours.
• Improve the surgical skills both for open and laparoscopic surgery when performing radical procedures in women with gynaecological cancers.

Target audience

The course is aimed at gynaecological oncologists with a special interest in surgery. The course will be valuable to both new specialists in the field as well as senior trainees.

 

Members of the European Network of Young Gynaecologic Oncologists (ENYGO) will benefit from direct interaction with the faculty.
