European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), is the principal European society contributing to the study, prevention and treatment of gynecological cancer. Founded in 1983, ESGO has over 1400 members in more than 40 European countries and worldwide who benefit from ESGO’s innovative education and research initiatives and networking opportunities.
As leading gynecologic oncology society, ESGO holds biennial meetings where over 2 500 experts meet to discuss latest advances in gynaecological treatment and care. ESGO also holds numerous workshops throughout the calendar year, provides clinical and research grants, different online educational materials, webcasts and numerous networking opportunities. Together with the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS), ESGO publishes the bimonthly International Journal of Gynecological Cancer (IJGC ) ─ a highly popular journal covering many topics including basic science, epidemiology, diagnostic techniques, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, pathology and experimental studies. ESGO hThe as also set up the European standards of training and care in gynaecological cancer and provides accreditations of European centres in excellence.
The Presidential address of Prof Ate GJ van der Zee at ESGO17 congress in Milano, 2011 gave an overview of ESGO successes and how the society has been fulfilling its missions and facing the European diversity nowadays.
