ESGO - ENYGO Future Leaders Academy

Overview

The future university chairs and key ESGO and ENYGO opinion leaders in the XXIth century global competition will not only be good physicians and managers. They will need a mindset of collaborative research. They will need to be able to share their experience, results, and knowledge. They will have to be respected by their staff not only because they are the head of department, but because they are able to inspire their team and foster the growth of all the team players.

One more joint initiative of the ESGO and its very active young gynecologic oncologists group ENYGO, the first-of-its kind seminar in gynecologic oncology is designed to develop these generally neglected fields of skills.

 

The 6 days programme will be divided into two parts:

Lectures delivered during the first part of Day 1 of the ENYGO Future Leaders Academy (November/December 2018) will be delivered by ESGO leaders and other key oppinion speakers and will be devoted to operating and communicating within an international cooperation.

The Communication workshop organized during Day 2 and 3 will focus on communication skills, developing participants' presentation skills, helping them to create more engaging presentation, provide them with better skills when chairing a meeting or making a media presentation.

 

Lectures delivered during the second part of the ENYGO Future Leaders Academy (January/February 2019) will be mainly focused on working and communicating within a team (health personnel, patients and carers).

Communication workshop

 

Second part will also include a 2-day workshop on Leadership skills – focusing on individual participants by using Hogan testing, the course will help participants to understand how they work under stress and how this influences their environment (colleagues, family). Participants will have the opportunity to explore their strengths and development areas and build solid base for evolving a functioning and empowering leadership style.

 

An international faculty of leading experts in the field will contribute to the program. Participation is compulsory throughout the course and both part needs to be attended.

The Future Leaders Academy will be conducted entirely in English.

**Registration fee needs to be paid for both parts, it is not possible to attend only one part of the programme.

General Information 

The Communication part of the programme will take place in Brussels, Belgium. 

Course attendance is limited to 14 participants, and applications will be evaluated and selected by ESGO-ENYGO committee.

General Conditions

  • Only applicants who are active ESGO/ENGYO members and who have paid the course fee will be considered for participation.
  • Paid ESGO/ENYGO membership for 2018 is a mandatory condition for being considered.

  • Please note that each application must include:
  1. Short CV
  2. Motivation statement
  3. List of  publications and presentations
  4. Recommendation letter from Mentor, Head of department or similar (ESGO member)

as mandatory parts of the application.

Insurance

In registering for the ENYGO Future Leaders Academy participants agree that the organizer is not responsible for individual medical, travel or personal insurance. Participants are requested to arrange their own travel and health insurance. The organizer can't assume liability for changes in the program due to external circumstances.

However, there are countries where gynaecological oncology is still not recognized as a separate sub-specialty, no ESGO-accredited centers exist and therefore achieving competencies for training is still very challenging for some trainees.
