One of ESGO’s principal missions is to lead Europe in the clinical and scientific education and, as a principal authority concerned with gynaecological oncology, to set European standards and provide supervision for certified training.
Committed to its cause, the ESGO has subsequently set up in collaboration with EBCOG (European Board and College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) formal guidelines of Subspecialty training program according to the European Accreditation in Gynaecological Oncology.

Accordingly to the European standards, the ESGO has been running accreditation visits certifying European Centres in Gynaecological Oncology which serve to train clinicians. Recognised centres are authorised to provide certified training of European Gynaecological Oncologists.

Until Jan 1, 2010, the ESGO recognizes retrospective trainings. Fellows clearly trained in accredited centres, even if their training started before the centre has been certified, are eligible to receive an official certification diploma.
Trainees interested in accredited European training are asked to contact directly certified training centres. Training Centres provide information about fellows under the European training to ESGO.
